The
FANO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, created and directed right from
the beginning by Fiorangelo Pucci, is now in its 12th
year. The festival features international productions of predominantly
short- and medium-length films.
Its prestige and both national and international acclaim has grown
over the years so that it is now a major event for film-makers and
producers as well as for the film press, offering an opportunity
for those working in Italian and international independent cinema
to meet together and see each other's work. Its main aim is to promote
films produced by young directors concerned with exploring new themes
and ideas and interpreting them in innovative linguistic, formal
and artistic ways.
The School Section is of particular importance. The Fano International
Film Festival, in response to the needs of Italian schools, has
set up an effective co-ordination system in order to allow television
into the schoolroom as a new language which teachers and students
can understand and use, thus placing State and secondary schools
at the centre of a cultural and professional process which, through
its own methodology and language, provides a form of social communication
and an effective vehicle for projects aimed at the production and
distribution of audio-visual material for schools.
