Fano's rich history, which has been influenced by cultures from other parts of the world, has helped to promote a variety of forms of expression. The "Coro Polifonico Malatestiano di Fano", in collaboration with Fano City Council, has organised the "Incontro Internazionale Polifonico di Fano" (Fano International Polyphonic Choir Festival) for many years in order to promote and encourage a spirit of friendship and collaboration between nations and above all among young musicians, who are the main protagonists in this event. It is an event which has become known for its artistic quality and stands among the best known and respected European and international festivals and an important event for leading international choral societies. The choirs taking part are carefully selected for their professionalism and high artistic ability, which is well demonstrated by their concert record as well as their performances on compact disk, radio and television and their participation in numerous important choral festivals, guaranteeing recognition of the festival for its highest international artistic quality. Many important musicians have publicly acknowledged the importance of the event, and the interest expressed by the well-known musician Massimo Mila has brought particular satisfaction and encouragement to ensure the continuing success of the Incontro Internazionale Polifonico di Fano.
