programme

Since its re-opening in 1998 following damage caused during the Second World War, this historic neo-classical theatre, among the most beautiful in Italy, now hosts "FanoTeatro", a theatre season which stands at the forefront of Italian theatre.
The A.M.A.T. (the Associazione Marchigiana Attività Teatrali) organises the section dedicated the comedy and classical theatre while the TSR (the Teatro Stabile in Rete) organises the contemporary theatre section.
This collaboration has produced fine results, bringing together important names in the Italian theatre world with actors and directors who have recently begun to establish their name. These include such celebrities as Glauco Mauri, Moni Ovadia, Silvio Orlando, Franca Valeri, Margherita Buy, Gabriele Lavia, Ottavia Piccolo, Gioele Dix, Simona Marchini, Alessandro Huber, David Riondino and many others who appear on stage at the Teatro della Fortuna in front of an attentive theatre-going public. The Fano theatre season, indeed, continued to flourish even in the absence of a city theatre, thanks to the availability of a cinema hall which was adapted for the purpose. This continuity has produced a high level of awareness and interest in theatre among the people of Fano. For the comedy and classics programme in the 2000-2001 season, AMAT has brought together a variety of names from traditional theatre (such as Molière and De Filippo) as well as such innovative actor-directors as Giancarlo Sepe (Madame Bovary with Monica Guerritore) Philippe Genty (Passagers Clandestins), Margaret Mazzantini and Sergio Castellito, and also a musical by Massimo Ranieri and Giuseppe Patroni Griffi (Il grande campione).
The productions produced entirely by the TSR include "In fondo a destra", a premiere performance with a third of the dialogue written in Romagna dialect by the well-known poet Raffaello Baldini and translated into Italian by the Fano poet Gabriele Ghiandoni. Two other Fano personalities take a leading part - the director Massimo Puliani and the actor Fabrizio Bartolucci.
